As long as is early diagnosed, testicular cancer is the best cancer to have

TSE, or testicle self examination, is the cornerstone of testicular cancer prevention Like breast self-examination (BSE) for women, testicle self examination (TSE) for guys should be done on a regular basis.

Testicular cancer occurs in the testicles which are located inside the scrotum. Like all cancers, testicular cancer occurs when the healthy cells which grow and divide in an orderly way develop abnormalities and begin to grow out of control and form a mass in the testicle. Risk factors include a family history, abnormal testicle development, age (it usually affects teens and younger men), and race (it's more common in white men than in black men).

Guys, including teens, should do testicle self examination monthly, say experts. To learn how to do this simple exam properly, check out kidshealth.org or tctca.org where there's a video to watch.

According to the Mayo Clinic, signs and symptoms of testicular cancer include a lump or enlargement in either testicle, a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, a dull ache in the abdomen or groin, pain or discomfort, a sudden collection of fluid in the scrotum, enlargement or tenderness of the male breasts, or unexplained fatigue or a general malaise.

Experts say there's too much fear, shame and stigma surrounding this cancer. Like breast cancer, there are a lot of psycho-social issues and many men who get testicular cancer feel like the words are written across their foreheads.

The big problem is a lot of young men don't go to the doctor when they should. They think they have to be strong, so they don't seek help until it's too late. Because of male sexual identify, there's a feeling that a man is less than a man with this cancer.

Thinking that way is wrong. Men must take into serious the cancer signals and do the same thing they do in a case of gunshot wound. They must go to the doctor, because as long as it is early diagnosed, testicular cancer is the best cancer to have.
