Question:
Is there a link between low testosterone and motorcycle riding?
I have a friend who rides his cycle a lot sometimes for hundreds
of miles and now has low testosterone levels. He was wondering if there
was a correlation.thanks!
by friend March 08, 2008
Answer:
Low hormone levels are part of the aging process. Testosterone levels gradually low
after age 30, decreasing approximately 1.5 percent per year. As testosterone
is a testes prodused hormene, any damage of testes cells by accidents, inflammations
or hurts may cause low testosterone (hypogonadism). Men riding bikes and
cycles a lot are prone to that kind of injuries, but there is no clear evidence linking riding
to hypogonadism.

Question: How is andropause diagnosed? by Jaime Fernandez 2007-07-11
Answer: Andropause occurs as a result of testosterone deficiency, then it can be diagnosed by evaluating the level of testosterone in the blood. Usually males with androgen deficiency have low free and bioavailable testosterone level.
As the symptoms of andropause are caused by the decrease in the free form of testosterone, total testosterone levels can be used as a screen for this condition.
