A surgeon team leading a study on a form of gastric bypass for Type 2 diabetes patients has found that some of their patients no longer had diabetes after the operation.
The surgery is called a duodenal exclusion and means the removal of the upper small intestine. This way, the time that the body has to absorb calories from food is reduced because the stomach feeding directly into the mid-small intestine.
It was just a very small study involving seven people, so researchers need more facts to have a clear conclusion.
