Reporting in the Nov. 27 issue of the journal Neurology, a research team at the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia suggests that low blood levels of high-density lipoprotein (”good”) cholesterol increase the risk of memory problems and greater disability after a stroke.
The study also concluded that high levels of an amino acid called homocysteine, acquired mostly from eating meat, also boosts post-stroke disability.
