Expressing concern over the rising incidence of heart diseases, the President of the Heart Care Foundation of India suggested that people should have in mind certain health objectives. They should keep their Glycosolate haemoglobin below 6.5 per cent which meant that the fasting sugar level must not be higher than 90mmg and LDL or bad cholesterol must not be more than 100. At the same time, the blood pressure must be kept below 120/80 and the abdominal circumference must not be larger than 35 inches in men and 32 inches in women.
These conditions could be maintained following a proper diet which should be in moderation and have variety. Diet should have less intake of refined carbohydrates and fat, low quantity of food and high fiber content. Change in oil and variation in cereals and vegetables is also high recommended. Moreover, to prevent heart diseases, exercise should be part of one’s life with one hour of walk or 30 minutes of brisk walk or 20 minutes jogging every day.
