As a consequence of study at Harvard Medical School, researchers have a new hint about how calorie restriction prolongs life.
They found that certain genes may be the link between calorie restriction and cell survival. According to their conclusions, it is about genes in mammalian cells that act as caretakers for cellular longevity. When certain kinds of stress, such as caloric restriction, activate the genes, they rev up and help protect cells from process of aging
Previous research has associated calorie restriction to longevity, but getting to the core of the molecular machinery that drives this longevity has remained elusive.
