A new research from the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) concludes that people can lose weight with most dietary plans in the short time, but whether the plan they choose increases they should take into consideration the risk of cardiovascular reduction over the long term. The perfect weight-loss plans should target both weight loss and chronic disease prevention, specifically cardiovascular risk reduction.
Particularly, the study found that the Ornish, New Glucose Revolution plans and Weight Watchers High Carbohydrate scored highest when evaluated by the Alternate Healthy Eating Index (AHEI), that is proven to be a strong predictor of cardiovascular disease.
