A research team at National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, Bilthoven, the Netherlands, reports that even moderately overweight people have an increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) that is not dependent of the effects of their weight on blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
The results are significant because they indicate that even when overweight individuals are optimally treated for hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, they will still have an unusual high risk of CHD
