Gray hair, wrinkled skin, and stiff joints are common changes that occur in our bodies as we age. Men can factor in another common change associated with getting older — prostate enlargement.
While no definite risk factors exist, an enlarged prostate — also called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) - is known to occur mainly in older men. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases reports that BPH rarely causes symptoms in men before age 40, but more than half of men in their 60s and as many as 90 percent in their 70s and 80s have some symptoms of BPH.
