It is known that urinary incontinence is a consequence of radical prostatectomy. The incontinence after prostate surgery is caused by dysfunction of the sphincter muscles, because during the operation the proximal sphincter is sometimes removed.
This moment surgeons work to develop new surgical techniques that will allow to remove the prostate while leaving the distal sphincter muscle unscathed. This way the good bladder functioning will be protected.
